The Promise of Community Action
Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

About SDCAP
SDCAP is the member organization for the four Community Action Agencies (CAA's) in South Dakota. Each of the four agencies is represented on the board of directors. Darci Bultje is the SDCAP Coordinator (part time) to lead statewide initiatives and participate on national state association activities.
Statewide Initiatives
ACA Navigators - Outreach and Enrollment Assistance
Western South Dakota Community Action is the grantee for the Affordable Care Act Navigator grant. The agency can provide outreach and enrollment assistance statewide to education and assist SD residents with signing up for health insurance through Healthcare.gov and answering questions about health insurance.
For more information about the Marketplace, visit Healthcare.gov.
Dakota Dream Savings Fund
South Dakota CAP Agencies manage an Individual Development Account (IDA) program where qualified families can open matched savings accounts to purchase a new home. Participant savings are matched 3:1 to use for purchasing a home. Education and case management are integral parts of this program. For more information, contact your local Community Action Agency.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program
Three of the four member agencies provide free income tax preparation services in their local service area. Services are available for low to moderate income tax filers. In the 2016 Tax season, the Community Action Agencies prepared and filed 1,296 tax returns.
